John explains the Okamoto ACC SA1 Surface Grinder

John Grimsmo talks about the Okamoto surface grinders. We have had this surface grinder in the shop now for a couple weeks and in this video we are going to deep dive into it. What we’ve learned in the past few weeks, and some of the stuff we have ground. Also John will discuss some of the challenges experienced and upgrades we’ve had to make already.

The other thing that is happening – notice the pole spacing. They are about half inch apart, that’s a lot and talking with a lot of surface grinding nerds and experts – for what we’re doing very flat thin parts a tighter pole spacing is better. I tried to order tighter pulse facing when I ordered the chuck but they said it was four to six months out. But the grinder will be here in a week, I don’t want to wait six months so they said they can order me this one and we’ll run it until the new one comes in – and then they’ll swap it out which is really good of them
